Nepal Makes a Prominent Presence in South KoreaFriday, April 26th, 2019
Nepal Destination Promotion Program held in Seoul and Busan on 23rd & 25th April 2019 concluded successfully amidst prominent Korean Travel Trade and Media. The program was jointly collaborated by Nepal Tourism Board with Nepal Embassy in Seoul where it apprised on the latest tourism information of Nepal providing an opportunity of first hand communication and tourism update to the audience.
The program was also an opportunity to give an overview of Nepal Government’s National Campaign, Visit Nepal 2020. Korea is an important and value market for Nepal as the Korean visitors to Nepal are on the rise. The program, an effort of Nepal Tourism Board, was a successful initiative to penetrate the market and give an update on Nepal to the Korean counterpart to receive first hand information. The arrival figures from Korea to Nepal is slowly picking up, with 37,142 in 2018 which is just double the number from 2015. The direct flight connectivity of Korean Air between Kathmandu and Seoul for some years now looks promising in this regard.
Charge’ d’Affaires Mr. Kiran Shakya, from Nepal Embassy, making a welcome note in both the Seoul and Busan programs shed light on the good relationship between Nepal and Korea and the tourism destinations of Nepal. The country presentation on Nepal made by Ms. Ranu Shah, Manager – Tourism Marketing & Promotion was informative and convincing to the audience on Nepal being more than a tourist destination with full of lifetime experiences through nature, culture and adventure. The events followed by Nepali cultural program won the hearts of the Korean counterparts in both the cities. Queries on Visit Nepal 2020 and its offer, immigration policies on visas at the border town Lumbini and the ongoing road construction were some of the curiousity amongst others. With the response received, NTB is encouraged to conduct such tourism related programs on a regular basis to cash the Korean market.
