Nepal participates in Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair (BTTF) 2019Sunday, April 21st, 2019
Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) along with 20 travel trade companies from Nepal actively participated in Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair (BTTF) 2019. Organized by Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), the 9th session of 3 days fair was successfully concluded on 20th April 2019 in Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), Dhaka, Bangladesh. Along with Bangladesh Tourism Board and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, national tourism organizations and travel trade companies from Nepal, India, Bhutan, Srilanka Indonesia, UAE, Vietnam and Maldives participated in the fair.
NTB official attending the fair disseminated first-hand information to the visitors at Nepal stall and updated on the tourism attractions and activities that Nepal offers. The visitors had queried on air safety, accessibility and visa formalities among others. NTB officials tried to convince the Bangladeshi people to visit Nepal as there is good connectivity between the countries and easy to get visa on arrival. NTB officials had also highlighted the salient features of upcoming Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign that has targeted 2 million tourists in Nepal.
The travel trade companies from Nepal with the attractive tour packages for Bangladeshi tried to lure them to visit Nepal. They also actively participated in B2B session with the travel trade companies from Bangladesh. Further, the delegates from Nepal participated in the Seminar on Buddhist Circuit Promotion in the region. There were other side-line events like seminars, table discussions, presentations, press conference, cultural shows and raffle draw during the fair.
A cultural troop from Cultural Corporation of Nepal performed different traditional cultural performances in the evening of the first day of the fair. A significant number of audiences enthusiastically observed the Nepalese dances. Minister Consular/Charge de affairs at the Embassy of Nepal, Bangladesh, Mr. Dhan Bahadur Oli, also visited Nepal pavilion on the last day of the fair. NTB was represented by Manager Mr. Khadga Bikram Shah, Officers Mr. Gopal Bhandari and Mr. Siddhartha Vishokarma.
The fair was inaugurated by President of Bangladesh Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid and State Minister, Ministry of Civil Aviation & Tourism of Bangladesh Mr. Md. Mahbub Ali was the special guest.
Bangladesh is one of the fastest growing markets for outbound, inbound and domestic tourists. Even in the present scenario of corporate culture, the most of companies are offering the annual corporate trip at home or abroad. Biman Bangladesh operates daily flight in Dhaka-Kathmandu-Dhaka sector. In 2018 Nepal received 25,959 tourists from Bangladesh.
Hence, BTTF has provided an opportunity for Nepal to meet, network, negotiate and conduct businesses to attract more tourists from Bangladesh.
