“International Mountain Tourism Day” launched in KathmanduWednesday, May 29th, 2019
The “International Mountain Tourism Day” and “International Forum on Mountain Tourism (Nepal)” were launched in Kathmandu on the occasion of Everest Day on May 29, 2019. The program was jointly organized by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in coordination with Nepal Association of Travel and Tour Agents (NATTA) and International Mountain Tourism Alliance (IMTA).
Chief guest at the launching program was Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Pradeep Gyanwali. High-level guests present at the launching ceremony were : Mr. Fu Ying Chun - Executive Secretary-General of IMTA, Mr. Yang Shichao - Charge d’affaires of the Embassy of China in Nepal, Mr. Zheng Xu - Head of the Delegation of Guizhou Provincial Government, Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi - CEO of NTB, Mr. Mario Hardy – Chairman of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Mr. C.N. Pandey – Chairman of NATTA. The program also included the launch and handover ceremony of the “International Mountain Tourism Day” flag.
Speakers at the program spoke on the various aspects of mountain tourism focusing on “ecology, green, science and technology led high quality development” of mountain tourism, and initiated mountain tourism experience sharing and business cooperation dialogue. Senior Director of NTB Ms. Nandini Lahe-Thapa also made a presentation at the program focusing on mountain tourism and its relevance in terms of quality tourism for the success of Visit Nepal 2020.
Officials from the Government and private sector tourism industry of Nepal, NTB officials and members of delegates from IMTA in China were present during the event.
