Tourism Conclave in Kathmandu During the VN 2020 InaugurationFriday, January 10th, 2020
On the occasion of Visit Nepal Year 2020 Inaugural of Jan. 1, 2020, the Government of Nepal in coordination with Nepal Tourism Board organized Tourism Ministerial Conclave on “Sustainable Tourism Through Preservation of Natural and Cultural Heritages”. Ministers from India, China, Jamaica and Myanmar along with high-level delegates from Bhutan, Cambodia, and Qatar visited Nepal for the Tourism Conclave and VN 2020 Inauguration.
The Ministerial Conclave provided an ideal platform to garner support from global leaders for the success of VN 2020 and discuss possible challenges to future course of action. Further, the meet aimed at making some consensus on regional initiatives for sustainable tourism development.
The Conclave also included meeting at the residence of Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister K. P. Oli in Baluwataar, Kathmandu. The high-level delegation was accorded special welcome and hosted by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Yogesh Bhattarai and were special invitees and speakers at the VN Inauguration program. The high-level delegates also visited heritage sites in Kathmandu and other parts of the country as per their tailor-made itineraries.
The delegates from different countries were positive about prospects of success of Visit Nepal . The delegates expressed their best to Nepal and committed to promote Nepal. The Declaration of the Establishment of Regional Resilience and Crisis Management Centre in Nepal was a major outcome of the Ministerial Meet.
The high-level delegation members were: Hon’ble Minister of Jamaica Edmund Curtis Bartlett; Hon’ble Minister Ohn Maung of Myanmar; Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent) Charge of Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel from India; Hon’ble Assistant Minister, Ministry of Culture and Tourism Wang Xiaofeng from P.R. China; Director General of Tourism Council of Bhutan Mr. Dorji Dhradhul; Advisor to the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia of Ms. Seila Hul; Chief Marketing and Promotion Officer of National Tourism Council of Qatar Mr. Rashed Said AA Al Marri.
