CA Members & Ministers Together to Discuss Tourism Post 25/4Monday, December 28th, 2015
POKHARA, Nepal, June 22, 2015 - A workshop/ seminar was organized in Pokhara on June 21, 2015, to discuss various tourism recovery issues post the earthquake on April 25, 2015, with participation from the Development Committee of Parliament of Constituent Assembly (CA), Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). Senior officials from the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Headquarters in Bangkok were also present and had arrived especially for the purpose of sharing their plan for the tourism recovery of Nepal.
The program which was inaugurated by the Rt. Hon’ble Chairman of the CA Mr. Subhas Chandra Nembang, was also attended by Hon’ble Minister of Finance Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat and Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA) Mr. Kripasur Sherpa. More than a dozen members of the Constituent Assembly, high-level Government officials, head of tourism associations and members of the local tourism chapters were also present at the program.
At the program, Chairman of CA Mr. Nembang expressed confidence about positive outcome of the program and praised its timely conduction to address problems faced by the tourism industry of Nepal. Similarly, Finance Minister Dr. Mahat, committed to support the tourism industry recover with the addition of budget, if needed. He was also positive that the industry would bounce back soon, with Nepal loved by all. Meanwhile, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Sherpa, called for a consolidated effort at tourism recovery and requested all tourism entrepreneurs to promote and market Nepal jointly. He also committed to the implementation of the recommendations for tourism recovery presented by the PATA team.
In another session, Chairman of the Development Committee of Parliament of Constituent Assembly Mr. Rabindra Adhikari, Vice President of PATA Mr. Andrew Jones, PATA’s Crisis Expert Mr. Bert Van Walbeek and Chairman of PATA Nepal Chapter Mr. Suman Pandey jointly reviewed the effort made by PATA in its Nepal’s tourism recovery effort and presented Nepal’s tourism recovery plan. Mr. Mohan Krishna Sapkota, Joint Secretary of MoCTCA, Mr. Ganesh Bhattarai and Mr. Tikaram Sapkota both from the Pokhara Tourism Recovery Committee, also made presentations on tourism recovery in the present context.
Members of the Development Committee of Parliament of Parliament of Constituent Assembly also expressed their comments and feedback on the present tourism context at the program.
