“A Nepal Evening” organized in Nicosia, Cyprus, to promote the Visit Nepal 2020 campaignSunday, February 16th, 2020
The Embassy of Nepal, Israel in coordination with Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), the Hon. Consul of Cyprus and the NRNA organized the First ever “Nepal Evening” to promote the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign in Nicosia, Cyprus on 14th February 2020. This year is also the 40th Anniversary of Diplomatic reactions between Nepal and Cyprus. The Government of Nepal and the NTB is exploring new markets to aggressively promote the VNY Campaign.
The Honorable Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal Mr. Yogesh Bhattarai and H. E. Ambassador of Nepal to the State of Israel Dr. Anjan Shakya and the Hon Consul Dr Jiwan Pariyar jointly inaugurated the very well attended event by lighting the Panas. The hon Consul, Dr Pariyar welcomed the guests,. H.E the Ambassador Dr. Shakya addressed the august gathering about of the immense tourism attractions of Nepal.
The Chief Guest of the program, the Honorable Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal, Mr Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai delivered comprehensive remarks on the goals of the VNY2020 campaign and the Government’s focus on further developing the tourism potential of Nepal and the cordial relations shared between the two countries. The Hon. Minister also requested the guests to visit Nepal during the Visit Nepal Year 2020 and beyond.
Ms. Nandini Lahe Thapa, Senior Director, NTB showcased Nepal in a visual journey covering all the major Tourism attractions of Nepal while emphasizing that Nepal is much more than only mountains. Nepal is a relatively new destination in Cyprus and holds a lot of potential in attracting tourists from this island country.
Ethnic dances by the Nepali diaspora and dinner with Nepali and Local cuisine was greatly by the 150 attendees including high level officials from the Government of Cyprus, Excellency Ambassadors, Travel and Tours agencies, Nepali Diaspora and Media, among others.
