BHUBANESHWAR, Orissa, Jan. 31, 2017 - Nepal Tourism Board participated at GS Tourism fair with the privilege of Focused Country Status, from Jan. 25-30, 2017, at Bhubaneshwar, Orissa’s state capital, where tourism, housing and household utilities goods and services were on sale and display.
Nepal Stand catered to around 10,000 visitors during the five-day event due to good publicity of the event by the organizer on newspapers and outdoor hoardings.
During the fair it became clear that youngsters are more interested in trekking in the Annapurna or Everest while the old ones are into pilgrimages in Pashupatinath and Muktinath and the couples seem to be interested in city tours.
Mostly college students have a dream for adventure trips to the majestic mountains of Nepal, to undertake a few adventure activities like bungy jumping , Safari tours coupled with short trekking trips around Pokhara which they might like to relate with a sense of personal satisfaction and achievement and would like to share their experience with their peers.
With formation of new states like Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Telangana in the region, there is a new prospects of tourism in the area and Nepal is sure to capitalize on Buddhist sites through networking and joint initiatives.
The rising numbers of middle class families have made the people affluent to travel within and abroad India. Package tours , earthquake apprehension, travel routes for reaching Kathmandu and average expenses per day per traveler were the most prominent queries at the fair. Pilgrimage, leisure and adventure theme were the major highlighted at the fair.
